Felipe Massa was struck by an errant spring which had fallen off of Ruben Barrichello's car, dazing the Brazilian and crashing him heavily into the tyre barriers at Turn Four. Stabilised at trackside, and the medical centre, Massa was airlifted to hospital where emergency surgery has been performed on the drivers left eye socket. Currently in intensive care, the whole F1 fraternity is in a state of concern for the popular driver. This the second incident in a fortnight, involving flying debris and single seaters.
