    Turbos Sound Best. plus...

    Sunday, December 12, 2010, 9:33 PM [General]

First, glad to hear about 2013 and the return of real sounding racing engines, as opposed to 'sewing machine' sounds all these years. Like listening to mp3's on earbuds vs. vinyl through a tube amp and big speakers. No comparison. Second, as in my earlier post re: Lotus Colors, the likelihood of a happy ending has gone and past. Seems like Lotus Renault have moved on and Tony F's team will have to get over it and re-brand. Sad, yes, but true. F1 is a harsh place. All this back and forth in the press makes the sport look bad. Will stay 'tuned' for what the new squad will be called. The good news is they've backtracked on the black and gold. Bad news for Renault is they've launched it and the anti-smoking brigade will probably have a say about that, much like they've maligned Ferrari and Marlboro. 2011 already seems to be shaping up nicely.

    Black & Gold Colors

    Friday, November 12, 2010, 10:20 PM [General]

The PR folks at the team still known as Lotus Racing have announced a fan-led drive to design their new Black and Gold colors for next season. Meanwhile, Lotus Group, owners of the Lotus name have bought into Renault. An interesting development late in the game and seemingly designed to throw a spanner in the works involving not only the two warring parties yet now dragging the fans into it. My sixties mindset says boycott the contest and let these two work it out themselves and/or with the FiA.

Below is a link to more information regarding the issue at hand between the Lotus'. Through my glasses it seems to be a case of paradoxes, without a happy ending.

    Impossible Dream, by Honda?

    Friday, March 13, 2009, 6:51 AM [General]

Or, perhaps, now, Brawn. Either way, whether the testing times are for real or not, the new car looks very advanced, and Honda may have pulled the biggest blunder since Black Francis broke up the Pixies and became Frank Black. Next stop, Melbourne...first though, a little music video interlude...

    F1 Best Crashes

    Tuesday, November 25, 2008, 7:07 PM [General]

Sure, it is not something we want to see but they happen, and we watch and here is a list of some of the best. Speaking of, way to go Montreal for crashing out on getting the race back. For the same reason you lost it in the first place, you weren't able to get it back. Time for a new venue, Vancouver is nice wouldn't that be something, just not Toronto, blech.

    Canadian GP axed

    Tuesday, October 7, 2008, 4:02 PM [General]

Frankly, who can blame them, with that crumbling track, trailer park facilities, opportunistic sly quebecois, a national post newspaper that antagonizes the middle-class, and a corporate culture in canada more interested in feeding endless inferiority complex pablum to the dog-sled racing, hockey loving, melon ranching populace.  Sad, as a fan, yet the writing has been, in my post, and the wall (of champions) for quite some time.  Without a US round to make it worthwhile, its not worthwhile to traipse all the way over for a market of only 30 million people.  More people live in paris, and, guaranteed, most of them aren't of the antagonistic dog-sled racing, hockey loving, melon ranching variety. Bring on korea.  The Canadian GP is looking like a footnote.
