The officials at Monza are worried that once Rome gets in that it will take the Italian GP away for historic Monza - which is in a tough position because facilities there have been hardly updated and up against a new venue, with more political clout, and probably a higher race fee, you can see where there worries are coming from.
IMHO Monza represents the history, like ol Hockenheim, Spa, Silverstone, etc. If F1 goes away from these tracks soon there will be no history and no F1. Short term economics that cut these ties will eventually be left without anything. It is proven over and over.
The Rome GP is a bad idea, all around. F1 fans, this is your sport too. Have your say!

Seemingly, says Toyota's Jarno Trulli, as also joined by Mark Webber and others over the latest technical regulations and ideas for 2010 and beyond. It has emerged that in the disaster of 2008 that the carmakers suffered, the prancing horse emerged as the only manufacturer to turn a profit! Adding the world constructors title and increasing merchandise sales while also at it. We all know that Ferrari also won the drivers championship as well, with both Kimi and Felipe together versus the selfish Hamilton. Big things ahead for the scuderia...
